In 1992, to advance our mission of supporting women’s health issues. The Woman’s Board began a long-standing relationship with the Women’s Comprehensive HIV Clinic. In doing this The Woman’s Board became one of the first philanthropic groups to fund an HIV related clinic with a pledge of $400,000. The Board is proud to continue its relationship with the Clinic through annual financial support of the Clinic and by hosting the Clinic’s annual holiday party, now in its 24th year. Each year, Board members purchase gifts for the patients of the clinic and their families and decorate the venue for the holiday party, providing a delicious catered meal, seasonal desserts, and children’s crafts. Clinic staff and Board members visit with attendees while families enjoy a photo opportunity with Santa and receive their gifts. The clinic staff have found this personal interaction is a critical factor in confirming the human dignity of these vulnerable, at-risk patients and encouraging them to remain engaged with the clinic and to adhere to treatment plans.
